Welcome to Mount Edward and to a small bunch of dedicated people growing and making Central Otago wine. Fully committed to an organic approach we grow grapes on several estate vineyards, across the best sub regions in Central Otago, that collectively produce wines of provenance and pleasure alike. Whilst albeit in limited quantities we have a unique range of pinot noirs, single vineyard designates and an eclectic mix of small batch white varieties.
Our dramatically beautiful region, set amongst the mountains and lakes of the southern alps, is acknowledged as one of the emerging identities of the wine growing world. Its glacial soils grow wines under a unique continental climate of cool nights and warm days producing wines of distinction and finesse.
The first Mount Edward vineyard, “The Drumlin”, is situated on the steep hillside slope next to the winery and is testament to both hard work and vision, the 30 deg slope a reminder that nothing great can come easily, except possibly delegation.
The winery and all estate vineyards, in the sub regions of Gibbston, Lowburn, and Bannockburn, are managed using certified organic practices and reflect a traditional and holistic wine growing ethos that we believe is critical for wines of uniqueness and authenticity.
You can find ours wines here online or in one of the equally fine establishments listed, otherwise find out a little of who we are and what makes our wines tick within these pages. Enjoy.
